Ruth A. Welliver
Director, Bureau of Plant Industry, PA Department of Agriculture
Ruth Welliver was appointed Director of the Bureau of Plant Industry in August of 2016, after 25 years of service with the PA Department of Agriculture. Ruth received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from The Pennsylvania State University, a doctorate in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and began her career at PDA as a plant virologist.
The Bureau of Plant Industry includes office, laboratory, and field support for regulatory programs involving pesticides, invasive species, IPM, entomology, plant pathology, noxious weeds, seed, feed, fertilizer, lime, and hemp.
